Georgia state patrol pulled over an elderly lady for speeding. When the officer approached the car the woman handed him her driver’s license and by mistake her carry permit.

The officer asked if she had any weapons in the car.

The lady replied, “yes sir, i have a 38 in the glove box.”

The officer said, “Any thing else”. The woman replied, “I have a glock in the console”.

The officer said, “Any thing else”. The woman replied, “I have a 380 in my pocket book”.

The officer replied, Ma’am what are you so scared of. The woman replied, “Absolutely Nothing Officer”.

I may be one of few Spanish speaking listeners. I’m in El Paso Texas. Borders with New Mexico and Mexico.

It was Tijeras- ( T-her-as) Spanish for scissors. And the pronunciation for Suarez- (su-ar-Es)was right.
Also I have a Keltec sub2000 in 9mm
I bought it as a truck gun in June from Academy. FYI- we have no issues finding these in Texas.

Thank you so much for your podcasts. It is great to listen to people that are like me and “defend the weak” as the Psalms say. I was listening to some of your old podcasts from August where yall mentioned about carrying in church. I thought yall would appreciate this that my pastor was a SWAT and police officer and carries. There are also about a dozen people who carry and a few (including me) that will be when the legal age.

It was pretty cool timing on listening to that podcast, in my Philosophy class at my college (which is a Christian College) we were talking about in this time of evil, what can Christians do and how t explain to non-believers why God lets evil happen. I randomly picked a podcast to listen to while i studied and what you said, and what the question I was dealing with matched up perfectly! God is pretty awesome

Good Morning Troy,
I love the podcast. Thanks to you and Doug for the time you take to share your gun knowledge and the word. I am a huge jeep lover and have often thought it would be great to start a podcast to share jeeps and God.
I come to you from West Grove Pennsylvania.
I have been currently thinking about my church and that we have no security or response team. Would you be able to give me some ideas of where to start and with who to get something like this started without stirring the pot within the church to much.
Thank you,
Keith Binkley

Weekly Bible Verses:
1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.” 8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” Isaiah 6:1-8 (ESV)

United we stand, divided we fall. ~Aesop

The first attributed use in modern times is to Founding Father John Dickinson in his pre-Revolutionary War song “The Liberty Song“, first published in the Boston Gazette in July 1768. In the song Dickinson wrote: “Then join hand in hand, brave Americans all! By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall!” Kentucky entered the Union on June 1, 1792. A little over six months later, on December 20, 1792, the first Kentucky General Assembly adopted the official seal of the Commonwealth, including the state motto, United We Stand, Divided We Fall.

‘United We Stand’ license plate designed by Troy Wingard for the South Carolina Department of Public Safety in 2002

Patrick Henry used the phrase in his last public speech, given in March 1799, in which he denounced The Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions. Clasping his hands and swaying unsteadily, Henry declaimed, “Let us trust God, and our better judgment to set us right hereafter. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us not split into factions which must destroy that union upon which our existence hangs.” At the end of his oration, Henry fell into the arms of bystanders and was carried almost lifeless into a nearby tavern. Two months afterward, he died.

Atlanta Woman Exercises her Right to Defend her Livelihood
Posted at 9:25 pm on September 22, 2016 by Beth Baumann
Last week Friday, three men kicked in an Atlanta, Georgia suburb home around 4 a.m. The first burglar was met by a female homeowner who reached for her firearm. The woman fatally shot the initial intruder, 28-year-old Antonio Leaks, in the torso. The other two suspects returned fire before fleeing the scene.
The home invasion was caught on security cameras from inside the woman’s home. “It’s not common that we receive this caliber of surveillance video showing the crime unfold, an actual home invasion,” Cpl. Deon Washington with the Gwinnett County Police Department said.
“She exercised her right to defend her livelihood and property,” Washington said.
Gwinnett, Georgia police are relying on the surveillance video to identify and apprehend the two men who remain at large. Both men are described as African American, between 20 and 30 and around six feet tall.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Gwinnett Police Department at 770-513-5300. Anonymous tips can be left with Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.

A Hymn with Punch

A preacher was finishing a rousing sermon against the evils of drink. His voice filling the church, he said, “If I had all the beer in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.”

Growing more impassioned, he shouted, “And if I had all the wine in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.”

Finally, he thundered, “And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.” He sat down.

The song leader then stood up and announced, “For our closing song, let us sing Hymn #365: ‘Shall We Gather at the River.'”

As a fellow Christian I find it very refreshing to see other men openly praising Jesus. I really enjoy the podcast and think these guys are a great team. I have enjoyed the variety of the topics they cover, not just boring springs and trigger gun talk. A very down to earth opinion of two guys that are not employed in the gun market. Thank you both for taking your time to share with us your valuable opinions. I believe our country needs more men like us in our countries current situation.

God Bless and Stay safe

From Kaleb Olson

Troy and Doug,
Hello, my name is Kaleb Olson and I have been listening to your podcasts for a few months now. I am very passionate about firearms and am a proud follower of Jesus. I am a junior biology major in college and have been blessed to be able to lead a small group for a college ministry called SALT Company. My mentor and I had an extended conversation about concealed carry and self-defense as Christians. We were wrestling with the topic because if we truly have put all our trust in Jesus Christ than who are we to take our lives into our own hands by defending them with a firearm or other self-defense weapons?

One of your podcasts I had listened to, you guys made King David the example. King David killed many men and many in defense for his life. King David is obviously considered a man after God’s own heart but as I stated above, we couldn’t help but to feel like our trust might not be in the Lord if we choose to defend ourselves. I mentioned your podcast to my mentor and we mutually sought to get both of your input on this topic. I already know your answer but I would like your explanations. I would greatly appreciate it.

I would also just like to extend my sincerest thanks to you for using a platform such as podcast to boldly spread the gospel. If I may, I’d also like to make a prayer request. Our church is growing at an astounding rate and as such we were looking for a new building. It just so happens that another local church was considering finding a new location and we are actually “swapping buildings”. I’d ask that you pray that we are able to raise the funds to make all the payments on the new building and that it won’t limit our ability to do ministry by cutting our current budget too tight.

I plan on leaving you an iTunes review in the near future when I get some time and figure out how to do it! Lastly, I’d like to commit to buying a patch, t-shirt, and one of the decals! I’d like the t-shirt in medium please. I noticed you have them up on the website store but I figured since I was already in contact with you about this that I’d just order them through the email! So I’d like your instructions on payment.

Once again, thank you and I am greatly looking forward to your input.

God bless,

Kaleb Olson

70-year-old man fights off home invader, KRQE, Albuquerque, N.M. 09/09/16

A 70-year-old man who walks using a cane was at home in Tijeras, N.M. when an intruder broke into the house. The home invader attacked the elderly man with a hockey stick and a piece of bamboo. The elderly man responded to the attack by retrieving a .38-caliber handgun and shooting his assailant, killing him.

The elderly man’s neighbors were supportive of his actions, with one telling a local media outlet, “Good for him. That’s awesome that he was able to think that fast and he was able to protect himself.” Another neighbor added, “Thank god that he’s armed and you know, most of us up here are. I hope people see this is not a good place to come for sure.” (KRQE, Albuquerque, N.M. 09/09/16)

Two little boys were known troublemakers, stealing everything they could get their hands, even from the church. One day a priest stopped one of the boys and asked, “Where is God?” The boy shrugged and the priest repeated, “Where is God?” The boy ran out of the cathedral crying to his home where he hid in a closet. Eventually his brother found him and asked, “What’s wrong?” The crying boy replied, “We’re in trouble now! God is missing and they think we took him!”

5 Star by Rexrider – Sep 8

Been listening faithfully since first discovering the podcast. The chemistry of Doug and Troy make for entertaining discussions. With a focus on the christian firearms enthusiast the content is relevant and consistent. The guests have always been interesting and current. As a believer it is critical that we feed our minds with righteous content and avoid the worldly distractions. At the same time those of us who love guns need to have a voice in the marketplace and you guys seem to represent us well. Blessed to have found you.

Great show. I love the EDC Check, interviews and Bible verses. This is a wonderful place to get a biblical worldview on second amendment current events.

Angel Garcia
Hey Troy and Doug this is Angel Garcia again wanting to ask you both a question. As you know my beloved California is increasing gun restrictions and is now implementing a worse requirement on AR’s that will force as of 2017. All who want to purchase an AR will no longer have a bullet button to be able to eject the magazine the only way to eject the magazine will be by removing one of the pins that holds the upper receiver to the lower receiver and breaking it open and either loading the ammo in that way or in some way removing the magazine. Therefore I have chosen to make sure that I buy a lower receiver or lower receivers(3) so that once the law goes thru I will be able to grandfather in my bullet button lower receiver. Ideally I would love to buy 3 100% finished lower receivers which are registered already. This would allow me to purchase “3 AR’s.” But, without having to pay a high amount of money up front and instead I can build my AR’s at my pace. But, when I mentioned this to my wife she asked me why would you purchase 3 ARs and why I would want multiple firearms in the first place? I honestly did not have a legitimate answer for her as to why I would ever need to have three ARs for any situation. I am also looking to buy a few handguns for her and I. I honestly just want to know why would I want to have multiple fires beyond a firearm for my wife and one for myself. One of the reasons I gave her for as to why I wanted to buy three AR lowers is because in case one of the lowers has some type of defect in the future I can just use one of the other lowers. I am getting a good deal on the lowers that I am planning on purchasing about $120 a piece great manufacturer and great quality. So from your point of view Troy and Doug why should I have multiply firearms? Why should I purchase the 3 lowers that I will be grandfathering into California’s never ending increase of gun restrictions? What are the reasons why I should have ARs at my disposal? What benefits assuming the right situation would present itself would having both an AR and a side arm be beneficial? I really want to be able explain to my wife these things because I know it’s important to have multiple firearms but I just don’t know the right reasons. Crime has increased by 100% in my city people in my neighborhood are being broken into by criminals and they are attacking in group 2 or more I really feel I need to pull the trigger on making my purchases I just want to make sure my questions are answered by experienced men of God and that have knowledge in the gun world. I want to make sure that I am ready to defend my wife and our home to the best of my ability if there would come a time that I would need to do so I pray it never happens but I don’t want to leave it up to chance and I want to make sure that I honor God as the Head of my home. Thank you Troy and Doug I appreciate you both taking the time to read my message I really hope to hear from you soon God bless you and your families are and our great country.

I’M SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW and can’t believe what just happened!!!

I had to leave the house to run to the store to pick up a few things. When I got back to the house there were three Sheriff’s vehicles and four deputies in our home. The front door had been knocked off the hinges, stuff was thrown everywhere, and apparently they were looking for something. Then they wouldn’t let me inside, (My family was sitting on the front porch bench in the heat), and the deputies are searching through everything, even going through my refrigerator. They checked inside the closets, under our mattress and just generally tore everything apart.

As you can imagine, I’m a bit upset and trying to figure out what’s going on. I asked if they had a search warrant. The deputy in our bedroom shouted, “Where did you hide it at? We know it’s here! We are searching.” I yelled back, “If I had an idea of what you’re looking for sir, maybe I could help!” He shoots me the “You wanna go to jail?” look, so I shut up and watch one of the other deputies look down at his phone. He calls out, “Guys! Stop! Hold on. We’re in the wrong house! The Pokémon is next door!”

Hi, there

I’ve only found your website today but I had to contact you. I’m a born-again Christian from London (25 years old), my dad was in the Parachute Regiment and I’ve grown up learning about and loving firearms. However, as you may know, most firearms are illegal in the UK (with the exception of double barrel shotguns, some rifles, .22lr calibre weapons and some other shotgun variants, all with limitations). I grew up firing air rifles and air pistols, and was fascinated ever since. I’ve educated myself, to some degree, on firearms. My first passions were WW2 weapons, particular American and German (Mauser K98 is my favourite bolt action rifle). I wish the laws were different here. I completely disagree with the handgun ban, as I find it utterly ridiculous (we can own .50 BMG rifles, but not 9mm handguns ?????). The ban was a result of a school shooting in 1996. Since then, crime (including gun crime and murder) soared. It peaked in 2003, I believe, and gradually reduced. However, it’s still bad. Only gangs and special police units have guns. Hardly any citizens.

I also agree with your stance on self-defence (a right I am not entitled to in my country). The Bible makes no indications that protecting ourselves, or more importantly the innocent is an act of evil or sin. I’m glad to have found some Christians such as yourselves and would like to keep in touch. I’d love to visit the States one day, my dream is to live there in a free state.

Please get back to me.

Regards

Joseph

Hey Troy,

I have been only listening for a few months now after being told about your podcast from a Lawyer doing concealed carry legal seminars. Love the show and that you guys have great passion for both guns and our Savior.

The name of the lawyer was Michael Giaramita, Jr. Author of “Pennsylvania Gun Law Arm and Educated” 2016 edition.

Thanks Chuck

Hey Troy,

First off, thank you to you and Doug both for the great podcast. I’ve listened regularly since I found it the end of March, shortly after I was saved on March 23rd this year. The positive inspiration and reflection you two offer is great and I appreciate the time you put in to the show.

I’d love to buy two of your new patches. If you’ll let me know how you prefer payment and a total I’ll send it right over.

Thanks again,

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knox County deputies are searching for a man who tried to rob an East Knox County store with a knife, only to be chased off by the store clerk who was carrying a handgun.

The sheriff’s office says the suspect entered Danny’s Market, 1203 Andrew Johnson Highway, around 10:39 p.m., walked up to a customer waiting to pay for her items, held a knife to her throat, and demanded money from the store clerk.

The clerk refused to hand over the cash, instead pulling out his handgun and forcing the suspect to leave. The suspect used the customer as a shield as he backed out of the store and ran off. A witness tried to follow him, but lost him at Clear Springs Road off Mascot Road.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 25 to 35 years old with a stocky build. He was wearing a gray, long sleeved T-shirt; light blue jeans; and kept his head covered the entire time. He was also wearing possibly camouflage face paint.

Anyone with information should contact the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit at (865) 215-2243.http://wate.com/2016/08/29/knox-county-store-clerk-armed-with-gun-chases-off-knife-toting-robber/

I love listening to Troy and Doug Both are Godly men speaking on topics that affect all Christian, gun owners. I love hearing them speak on their feelings on gun ownership, as well as the teachings they layout from the Bible. Although they aren’t my neighbors, they feel like good friends that I’ve known for ages. I look forward to their podcast every week. They make me laugh and encourage me both in my beliefs involving God and my beliefs on guns. God Bless!

Afternoon gentlemen like all that you do for God and guns. I live in New York NOT THE CITY upstate and we would like to cut them from the rest of the state. Keep doing what you are I enjoy listening too the both of you.

Troy, (From June 24th sorry I didn’t find this one until this week.)
I am an avid listener of podcasts and love yours also.

For about the last 4 episodes I have been having an issue – when I listen to your podcast it causes my iPhone to “reboot”in the middle of the podcast – typically 3 or 4 times per podcast.  I have 5 or 6 other podcasts which I listen to consistently – and yours is the only one I am having this issue with.  For what it is worth, I am using Apple’s built in Podcast app to download and listen to your podcast.

Do you have any input or advice? A no, outside my pay grade.Maybe Doug knows

Thanks – Tim

91-year-old Right-to-Carry permit holder defends himself against robber, WXYZ, Detroit, Mich.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2016

A 91-year-old man was in the parking lot of a Rite Aid pharmacy in Eastpointe, Mich. when he was approached by a man acting erratically. The stranger followed the elderly man and pointed an object at him. The 91-year-old, who is also a Right-to-Carry permit holder, responded to the threat by drawing a gun and shoot the assailant in the neck, prompting the man to flee. Police eventually caught up with the wounded man who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the incident, Eastpointe Deputy Police Chief Eric Keiser told a local media outlet, “This was an attempted robbery of the shooter… The person who fired the shots had a CPL and was lawfully carrying a handgun and said that he defended himself when he was attacked.” (WXYZ, Detroit, Mich. 08/22/16)

Only three doors

An airline captain was breaking in a new blonde stewardess. The route they were flying had a layover in another city. Upon their arrival, the captain showed the stewardess the best place for airline personnel to eat, shop and stay overnight.

The next morning, as the pilot was preparing the crew for the day’s route, he noticed the new stewardess was missing. He knew which room she was in at the hotel and called her up wondering what happened. She answered the phone, crying, and said she couldn’t get out of her room. “You can’t get out of your room?” the captain asked, “Why not?”

The stewardess replied: “There are only three doors in here,” she sobbed, “one is the bathroom, one is the closet, and one has a sign on it that says ‘Do Not Disturb’!”

Police officer’s cousin uses officer’s gun to fight off armed robbers in NYC,

New York Post, New York, N.Y. 08/16/16

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17, 2016

A pair of thieves, at least one of whom was armed with a gun, approached an off-duty police officer who was with his girlfriend and cousin outside a bar in New York City. An altercation ensued, during which the officer’s cousin was able to retrieve the officer’s gun from his vehicle. Once armed, the cousin shot one of the robbers. The wounded thief fled the scene, but was found at a local hospital a short time later.

With the incident having occurred in one of the most anti-gun jurisdictions in the country, the New York Post noted that the officer “could face disciplinary charges for not securing his gun and allowing the weapon to fall into the hands of a civilian.” The wounded robber was determined to be a parolee. Listener Feedback

Todd

Hi Doug and Troy,

I’m a new listener to your show and I love it! To be honest I’m working hard to be a good Christian and a Godly man. It’s been a long hard road for me but I feel I’m making great headway and I believe that my family and I have found a great church to call home.

That’s actually the reason for my email. We live in upstate South Carolina and our church is very close to the interstate. As you might remember last year a young man shot up a church in Charleston SC. He was later caught in the Charlotte NC area. Also recently some of our church members and staff have had money and credit cards taken from their purses. These instances and the current social climates give me concern for my family’s safety and that of my church family.  I am a concealed carrier but I don’t carry in church as it’s not legal in SC without the church’s permission. I would like to talk to the church about doing so and also about the general security of the church and its members. As I’ve only been going to this church for a little over a year and I’ve really only gotten more involved with church activities in the past couple of months I don’t know how I should broach the subject. Do you have any suggestions on how to do that tactfully?

As a secondary question, I also work in a large international company, with my wife, and our security practices are VERY loose to say the least. I’ve asked management if we have plans in place in case of emergencies such as civil emergencies such as, fire, chemical spills (our company is alongside of the same interstate as I mentioned before and is heavily traveled by trucks) riots and active shooters. I’m sad to say that my inquiry has fallen on deaf ears thus far. Aside from taking the needed training myself, how do I try to make my company aware of the need to educate our workers on what to do in case the need for action comes about? Side note, concealed carry is also NOT allowed on company property.

Thank you for your help and all of your hard work.

Todd

George Suprenant
Doug,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to apologize for not thanking you sooner for the sample of FrogLube you sent me months ago.

It dawned on me the other night as it came time to clean all of our carry pistols that I’d never properly thanked you.

My wife was completely amazed at the minty fresh scent and the fact that  the lube was non-toxic.

You probably would have laughed pretty heavy if you were sitting next to us and saw me and my wife passing various disassembled gun parts back and forth smelling them while simultaneously keeping them Out Of Reach of our 7 month old daughter.

And just as a side note I assure you there was absolutely no ammunition anywhere near the area that we used to clean and lubricate the pistols.

It was just a good time had with the family in the living room exercising our 2nd Amendment right to clean guns whether we like it or not.

So from my family to yours thank you for creating another FrogLube family.

Sincerely,

George, Heather, & Brianna Suprenant.

Weekly Bible Verses:

9 Be not quick in your spirit to become angry, for anger lodges in the heart of fools. 10 Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. 11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance, an advantage to those who see the sun. 12 For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it. 13 Consider the work of God: who can make straight what he has made crooked? 14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him. 15 In my vain life I have seen everything. There is a righteous man who perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man who prolongs his life in his evildoing.16 Be not overly righteous, and do not make yourself too wise. Why should you destroy yourself? 17 Be not overly wicked, neither be a fool. Why should you die before your time? 18 It is good that you should take hold of this, and from that withhold not your hand, for the one who fears God shall come out from both of them. Ecclesiastes 7:9-18 (ESV)

Late one night a mugger wearing a mask stopped a well-dressed man and stuck a gun in his ribs. “Give me your money,” he demanded. Scandalized, the man replied, “You can’t do this – I’m a US Congressman!” “Oh! In that case,” smiled the robber, “Give me MY money!”

A guy was sitting in a bar one day and two really large women came in, talking in an interesting accent.
So he said, “Cool accent, are you two ladies from Ireland?”
One of them snarled at me, “It’s Wales, dumbo!”
So he corrected myself, “Oh, right, so are you two whales from Ireland?”
That’s about as far as he remember.

Mother shoots intruder, KGW, Portland, Ore. 06/27/16
A mother and her two children returned to their Portland, Ore. home to find an intruder in one of the children’s bedrooms. The mother responded to the threat by retrieving a handgun and shooting the intruder, killing him.

Following the incident, neighbors appeared supportive of the mother, with one telling a local news outlet, “great for her for defending herself and her family.” Another area man said “She did the right thing, I think she did the right thing.” (KGW, Portland, Ore. 06/27/16)

You Might Love Guns if…
—–you have ever loaded a drawer up with so much ammo that you can’t open it.
—–when someone asks how many guns you have, you have to think about it for a minute
—–you have ever bought ammo in a caliber that none of your guns fire
—–the guns you took to the range cost more then your car
—–you carry a different gun every day of the week
—–whenever you can’t decide which gun to get, you get both
—–you get your wife/girlfriend to wear Hoppes 9 instead of her usual perfume.
—–you take so many guns to the range and don’t shoot half of them.
—–you have an extra room in your house just for ammo and guns.

Doug and Troy,

I just wanted to reach out to you guys and thank you for what you guys are doing. It really is a breath of fresh air in the society around us to hear you guys talking about the gospel and also about Christian gun ownership. I just stumbled onto this podcast recently, so I have been playing catch up on recent episodes.

I am sure you took care of this Troy (I think it was Troy), one of your listeners must have queued you in. You mentioned on your Gen4 Glock the back-strap not staying on. I think you’re not installing it right. In the back of the grip there is a small pin that you need to push out, and when you install the back-strap on, you then push in the larger pin in that was supplied with the pistol. Hope this helps. I really enjoy the Gen4 models due to the changeable backstrap. Once the larger pin is installed it shouldn’t be an issue.

I wanted to help you guys out with a joke, like I said I am recent listener so you might have heard this one already.

A pastor decides to miss church on Sunday to go bear hunting with some friends one weekend. The guilt of missing service is really bothering him throughout the drive. While walking down a road on the side of a hill a huge bear jumps out. The pastor loses his balance and falls downhill. When he stops at the bottom of the hill his leg is badly damaged so he cannot get up and run. The bear is now running downhill full speed towards him. The pastor starts praying “Lord I know I shouldn’t have missed service today, please forgive me. I will never miss another service to go hunting again, please put your hand on this bear and still his rage.” The bear halts to a stop just before the pastor, kneels down and prays “Please Lord bless this food you have given me”.

I look forward to more episodes. My local church is Midlothian Bible Church in Midlothian,TX an hour south of Dallas. If you guys are ever coming down this way, we have a great local range and tons of guns. Let me know. Keep spreading the word.

A friend of mine is a missionary in Africa. His little 4 year old daughter became worried that there wouldn’t be anyone for her to marry when the time came. She worried about it all the time for a week. Finally she had an idea. She said, daddy, will you marry me? To make his little girl happy he said ok honey, daddy will marry you. Now happy at last she planned the big day as only a 4 year old can.

Everything was set, they all dressed up and daddy was going to perform the wedding as well as be in it. When the time came he looked at his daughter and said now it’s time for the wedding vows. Without missing a beat she yelled out, A,E,I,O,U.

The wedding was over.

Thanks,

Rusty Frederick

Hi Troy and Doug – I have been listening to the show for about six months now and wanted to drop you guys a line and say thank you for the work that you do each week in producing the podcast.

I also wanted to take the time to thank you for helping to encourage me to get back into shooting and gun ownership and share a bit of my story with you guys.

I got into duck hunting and trap shooting when I was in junior high years ago, but fell away from hunting and shooting when I went through some tough times during high school and my early twenties.

When I was thirty, I came to Christ. During the first few years of my walk, I simply enjoyed the newness of spiritual growth and tended to avoid processing the tougher issues of ethics and faith. Now that I’m more mature, I am revisiting my thoughts on many things.

I grew up always wanting to serve in the military, but had an injury and a medical condition that kept me out of the service. Not being able to serve was actually what caused me to turn away from God back in high school. I sometimes struggle with regret for not serving when so many of my generation served us with great honor in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The more and more I’ve struggled with this, I began to have some dark spots and doubts in my faith. Anyway, I heard about the book “A Time to Kill: The Myth of Christian Pacifism” by Greg Hopkins from you guys a while back. It has been very helpful in integrating my beliefs about military service, gun ownership, and self-defense ethics with my relationship with Jesus. Thank you for having Greg on the show!

After eighteen years of not shooting, I was re-introduced to guns last fall by my wife’s cousin who is a police officer. Now at the age of thirty six and having just received the precious gift our first daughter, I’ve begun to seriously consider my role as protector of my family.

A mentor from church and I recently completed our CCW class at Bill’s Gun Shop in Robbinsdale, MN. I rented a pistol from the range to complete the class, and am saving up money whenever I can towards the purchase of my first pistol and to pay for the CCW permit fees. (I’m leaning towards a G19; by the way – nice MOS build Troy!) With our new daughter and mine and my wife’s student loans, things are tight, so I’m also working on a side business to help pay for ammo, range time, and some training classes.

The business is called Cross & Dot Optics and will be an online retailer of Red Dots, Scopes, and shooting accessories. The name was inspired a bit by Crossbreed Holsters and a word I got years ago to start ‘Kingdom ventures’. I’m still looking for ideas to integrate the Kingdom connection for this business, but right now I’m leaning towards allocating a portion of the profits to veterans ministries.

In the beginning I just hope to serve the shooting community, police and military with excellent customer service and a great online user experience to make shopping for optics simple and easy. The site is under construction and will launch later this summer, but I’ve started the store’s Instagram account @crossndotoptics to keep folks up-to-date. For now I am curating a feed of the Internet’s best optics equipped pistols, rifles, carbines and shotgun images.

Again, I want to thank you guys for your work. Keep up the great podcast and I hope you guys are able to get your T-Shirt store up and running sometime soon.

Blessings,

Weekly Bible Verses
13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children. 14 In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you. 15 If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you. 16 Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy; 17 no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.” Proverbs 6:13-17 (ESV)

A Life of Violent Threats Paved Way for Orlando Attack

Again and again for much of his life, Omar Mateen let people know he was a violent, dangerous person capable of murder. Repeatedly, he wiggled out of trouble, distracting officials with a beguiling charm, a feigned stupidity or some other tactic.

A look at Mateen’s troubled life, based on interviews with officials and people who knew him, as well as documents, reveals that on at least a dozen occasions, beginning when he was in grade school, he gave clues in a public setting that he was capable of mayhem.

At age 14, he said he could shoot an AK-47 and mimicked an airplane flying into the World Trade Center. At 26, he bragged to courthouse co-workers of terrorist ties. Weeks ago, at 29, Mateen sought to buy heavy-duty body armor and bulk ammunition.

Many of his violent outbursts aped or celebrated Islamic terrorism and he repeatedly claimed connections to known terrorists, including the Boston Marathon bombers. He cheered the 9/11 attacks on the day they happened and once threatened to shoot partygoers at a barbecue when pork, which is forbidden to Muslims, touched his hamburger.

There doesn’t appear to be a moment when Mateen’s political extremism and religious zealotry kicked into high gear. Rather, this appears to be a case of slow, steady intensification.

Law-enforcement officials say he became radicalized online yet key facts remain unknown about what drove him to launch a terror attack. Officials are probing what his wife knew about his plans. Investigators are scrutinizing Mateen’s communications and travel history to detail any direct or indirect influence he might have had with terror networks.

Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan on Thursday called the Orlando massacre part of a pattern of attacks Islamic State is trying to encourage by “sympathizers who have no direct links to the group.”

Twice during his adult life, Mateen’s actions prompted probes by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Agents concluded he didn’t pose an immediate threat.

Robert Zirkle, who knew him through school in 2001, said: “We joked that he’d become a terrorist. And then he did.”

On Sunday, he went into an Orlando nightclub, murdered 49 people and injured 53, and claimed the moment for Islamic State.

Mateen’s story cuts to the heart of the worst scenario for domestic law enforcement and policy makers. While he hadn’t committed a crime as an adult, his record was replete with incidents that troubled those around him.

Early Sunday, the trail of threats culminated with the massacre Mateen had in a sense been foretelling for almost two decades, raising troubling questions in particular for the FBI and his most recent employer, G4S Secure Solutions.

FBI director James Comey said this week he doesn’t think the FBI should have done anything differently in its earlier probes, though it is conducting a far-reaching review to see what the FBI may have misjudged. G4S, a British security firm, said in a statement two screenings it conducted of Mateen found nothing disqualifying.

After each disturbing eruption of anger, Mateen always danced just out of reach of those who could have stopped him. He hopped from school to school, job to job. Paper records were drawn up, notice was taken but little seemed to follow him.

Omar Mateen’s trouble began early. He was disciplined at school 31 times between 1992 and 1999, for reasons including hitting another student, school records show. He was constantly demanding attention, either as a goofball or a bully, regularly wearing a gym shirt in high school emblazoned with his name, “O. Mateen,” classmates said.

Kathleen Zurich, who said she taught Mateen in fourth and fifth grade, characterized him as a bully who called classmates “ugly” or “gay” and painted himself as a victim—but had a softer side. “That’s the scary part,” she said. “There was a nice side of him that you can see, and yet he can be so nasty. Almost like a Dr. Jekyll and Hyde personality.”

At a barbecue in the spring of 2007, Mateen erupted when his hamburger touched a piece of pork, something he considered a religious affront. He told the class he ought to kill all of them, recalled Susanne Coburn Laforest, 61, who attended the barbecue as a trainee. Mateen told his classmates not to laugh at him because this was serious and “was going to come back and shoot us,” she said.

Not long after, Mateen was sitting in his car in the parking lot as classes were about to resume, when authorities swarmed the auto and escorted him off the property. An official told cadets Mateen had threatened to bring a gun on campus, according to Clinton Custar, who was attending the academy at the time and saw the incident from a classroom window.

This was the same month Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and Mateen threatened to carry out a similar massacre at the police academy because he felt like he was being taunted for being Muslim, said a fellow cadet.

Robert Lane, a spokesman for the school, now Indian River State College, said it had no record that Mateen was involved in disciplinary actions or had interactions with campus security. Mateen was released from the academy in April 2007 when his employment with the Department of Corrections ended, he said.

How the Orlando Shooting Unfolded

ZACHARY SCHEFFER FOR THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

Mateen was hired by G4S, essentially working as a security guard. People who encountered him for a few minutes each day at various sites described him as jovial and pleasant. But in a video that surfaced this week, showing Mateen in 2010 at a gate to the BP PLC cleanup site, he again expresses grievance, albeit calmly.

Grandiose boasts about terrorist ties, when he was 26, put Mateen on the FBI’s radar. He was starting to spook co-workers at the St. Lucie County Courthouse, where he was a security guard. Colleagues reported Mateen was bragging about knowing people in al Qaeda and claiming he was a Hezbollah member. He told co-workers he knew associates of the Tsarnaev brothers, who had bombed the Boston Marathon that year, according to the complaints.

“The FBI is very eager to find out” about his motives, “even if it is a very complicated and conflicting set of motivations,” said Rep. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

Several weeks ago, Mateen walked into Lotus Gunworks of South Florida. He acted strange, said store co-owner Robbie Abell, asking for heavy-duty body armor and bulk ammunition. He “just seemed very odd,” Mr. Abell said. The store didn’t stock body armor and refused to sell him bulk ammunition.

Mateen moved along, as he had on other occasions when he incurred suspicion or fear. He found what he was looking for somewhere else.

Homeowner on Detroit’s west side shoots intruder, shares his story with 7 Action News

DETROIT (WXYZ) – It was a harrowing encounter on Detroit’s west side, when a homeowner shot the intruder who was holding him and his wife at gunpoint. It happened before 6:00 Monday night at a home off Beaverland Rd. near Eaton. Detroit police said two men ordered the homeowner and his wife into their house and then into the basement. Daniel McNamara is the homeowner. He told his incredible story only to 7 Action News.

“He kept telling us to turn around, I said ‘No, I’m not going to turn around,’ I said ‘You’ve got to kill me face to face’,” said McNamara. He said the suspects wanted him and his wife to turn around so they wouldn’t remember their faces. During the home invasion, the suspects took both of the McNamara’s wedding rings, her purse, cash and cell phones.

“He kept pointing the gun at my head and said, ‘You don’t think I’ll kill you face to face?’ I said ‘I don’t know, but you’re going to have to because I’m not turning around’,” said McNamara. He said he happened to have a gun stashed in the same area the suspects were holding the pair at gunpoint. “All I could think about, how can I get that gun,” said McNamara. He took his opportunity when one of the suspects said he would be right back and turned around and headed toward the stairs. “Of course I was scared, who wouldn’t be? Some goon has a gun to your head and tells you he’s going to shoot you because you’ve seen his face,” said McNamara.

He fired off two shots and hit one of the suspects once. Both of the suspect’s ran away very fast, McNamara believes there was likely a car waiting. One of the suspects turned up at the hospital and the second suspect is still on the run.

“The Lord looked out for us today,” said McNamara. Police continued to search the neighborhood for hours, but came up empty handed.
